Seaports
The mission of the South Carolina State Ports Authority is to contribute to the economic development of South Carolina by fostering and stimulating waterborne commerce and shipment of freight. They achieve this through their three ports. Their largest port, the Port of Charleston, is located 138 miles from Fairfield via I-77 to I-26. It is the largest container port on the U.S. Southeast and Gulf coasts and the 4th largest in the United States for cargo value. Charleston is one of only a handful of ports to have received the Presidential "E" and "E-Star".
